Job Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Registered Nurse to serve as the Director of Emergency Services within our healthcare organization. Duties

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all aspects of emergency services, including staffing, patient flow, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health regulation policies, including HIPAA, state healthcare regulations, and Medicare requirements.
  • Supervise nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams, fostering a collaborative environment focused on quality patient care.
  • Develop, review, and update care plans tailored to individual patient needs while ensuring adherence to best practices in emergency nursing.
  • Oversee documentation review and medical records management using electronic medical record (EMR) systems to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor patient care processes, including patient monitoring, physiology assessment, and surgical nursing procedures when applicable.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage departmental budgets, resource planning, and shift management to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Facilitate staff training on medical terminology, hospital policies, and regulatory updates to maintain high competency levels.
  • Coordinate case management activities ensuring residents’ rights are protected and that care delivery aligns with legal standards.

Skills

  • Extensive critical care experience with a solid understanding of acute care procedures and physiology.
  • Proven nurse management experience with demonstrated team leadership capabilities in hospital or emergency settings.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare management principles including budgeting, project leadership, and quality assurance.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation review and medical records management.
  • In-depth understanding of health regulation policies such as HIPAA, state healthcare regulations, Medicare guidelines, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Excellent managerial communication skills with the ability to supervise staff effectively and foster professional development.
  • Experience in assisted living environments, home health agencies, hospice care, or home care is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage shift schedules efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient monitoring and safety.
  • Knowledge of surgical nursing expertise and perioperative care practices relevant to emergency services.
  • Competence in case management strategies that uphold residents’ rights while delivering comprehensive emergency interventions.
  • Leadership qualities that inspire confidence among staff while promoting continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
