Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lien Negotiator specializing in Personal Injury cases to join our legal support team. This role involves managing and negotiating liens related to personal injury claims, ensuring optimal recovery for clients while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong legal support experience, exceptional organizational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of various legal disciplines including personal injury law, civil litigation, and procedural law. Duties
- Review and analyze personal injury claims to identify applicable liens, including medical providers, insurance entities, and government agencies.
- Negotiate lien amounts with third-party payers to maximize client recovery while ensuring compliance with legal standards.
- Maintain detailed records of negotiations, correspondence, and agreements using legal case management systems such as PCLaw and iManage.
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and clients to gather necessary documentation for lien validation and resolution.
- Conduct thorough legal research across areas such as estate planning, UCC law, workers' compensation law, and tribal regulations to inform negotiation strategies.
- Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing lien statuses, negotiations progress, and final resolutions.
- Manage document review processes for accuracy and completeness, ensuring all procedural law requirements are met.
- Handle confidential information with discretion while maintaining compliance with data entry standards and document management protocols.
- Support administrative functions including filing, data entry, and maintaining organized electronic files within legal support systems.
- Engage in client communication to explain lien processes clearly and professionally.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of personal injury law along with familiarity in areas such as civil litigation support, estate planning, environmental law, family law, securities law, patent law, and tribal regulations.
- Proven experience with legal case management software including PCLaw, iManage, Westlaw, LexisNexis, and document review platforms.
- Strong research skills utilizing tools like Westlaw and LexisNexis to support negotiation strategies.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases efficiently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for drafting documents and reports.
- Effective communication skills for client interaction and internal collaboration.
- Attention to detail in proofreading documents and handling procedural documentation accurately.
- Knowledge of legal drafting techniques along with litigation procedures relevant to personal injury cases.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining professionalism in all interactions.
- Experience in legal administrative support roles involving document management systems and data entry tasks.
- Familiarity with legal research methodologies related to general & commercial litigation as well as specialized areas like UCC law or Workers' Compensation Law.
