Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgery Center Administrator to lead and oversee the operations of our outpatient surgical facility. This pivotal role involves managing clinical and administrative functions to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, delivering exceptional patient care, and maintaining efficient practice management. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of healthcare management, medical office operations, fiscal oversight, and team supervision. They will serve as the key leader in fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes quality, safety, and operational excellence.
Duties
- Oversee daily operations of the surgery center, ensuring smooth coordination between clinical staff, administrative personnel, and external vendors.
- Manage fiscal responsibilities including budgeting, financial management, medical billing, and revenue cycle processes.
- Supervise healthcare staff including nurses, administrative support personnel, and clinical technicians to promote high performance and compliance with healthcare standards.
- Ensure adherence to all health regulation policies such as JCAHO standards, HIPAA compliance, and state/federal healthcare regulations.
- Maintain accurate medical records utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems such as EMR/EHR platforms like Eaglesoft and Dentrix.
- Oversee patient management processes from scheduling to discharge, ensuring excellent customer service and patient satisfaction.
- Monitor clinic performance metrics; implement process improvements for efficiency and quality assurance.
- Lead human resources functions including staff recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution.
- Ensure compliance with medical terminology standards, medical records management protocols, and healthcare practice policies.
- Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and external agencies to optimize utilization management and managed care strategies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical office management or healthcare practice management within a surgical or outpatient setting.
- Strong background in fiscal management including budgeting, financial oversight, and medical billing.
- Extensive knowledge of healthcare regulations such as JCAHO standards, HIPAA policies, and health regulation compliance.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience managing multidisciplinary teams in a healthcare environment.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with patient management software is essential.
- Prior experience in acute care or hospital settings is highly desirable.
- Excellent managerial communication skills coupled with customer service expertise.
- Competence in managing medical administrative support functions including medical records and medical terminology.
- Ability to navigate office management tasks using Microsoft Office applications effectively.
- Knowledge of managed care processes and utilization management strategies.
- Relevant certifications or degrees in healthcare administration or nursing are preferred.
