Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Radiation Therapist to join our healthcare team. The Radiation Therapist plays a vital role in delivering precise radiation treatments to patients undergoing cancer therapy and other medical conditions requiring radiation intervention. This position involves operating advanced medical equipment, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring adherence to radiation safety protocols. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in radiation oncology, medical imaging, and patient care, contributing to improved treatment outcomes and patient well-being.

Duties

• Administer external beam radiation therapy using linear accelerators, ensuring accurate delivery aligned with treatment plans.
• Operate sophisticated medical imaging equipment, including CT scanners for simulation and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), to facilitate precise targeting.
• Develop and implement individualized radiation treatment plans in collaboration with radiation oncologists and medical physicists.
• Conduct CT simulation procedures for treatment planning, ensuring detailed anatomical visualization and accuracy.
• Monitor patient responses during therapy sessions, adjusting techniques as necessary while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
• Adhere strictly to radiation safety procedures, implementing protocols to protect patients, staff, and the environment from unnecessary exposure.
• Maintain detailed electronic health records (EHR) of treatments administered, patient progress, and relevant clinical notes.
• Assist in quality assurance processes for medical equipment operation, including linear accelerators and related devices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for patients requiring critical or acute care interventions.
• Stay current with advancements in radiation therapy techniques such as intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and mammography.

Qualifications

• Certification or licensure as a Radiation Therapist from an accredited program; state licensure if applicable.
• Proven experience operating radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators and CT simulation systems.
• Strong knowledge of radiation physics, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and radiation safety procedures.
• Prior experience with image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), and external beam radiation therapy.
• Familiarity with medical software systems used for treatment planning and electronic health records management.
• Critical care or acute care experience is highly desirable to manage complex patient needs effectively.
• Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly and collaborate effectively within healthcare teams.
• Ability to adhere strictly to safety protocols while maintaining compassionate patient care.
